A distressing incident unfolded at PNC Arena as Carolina Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal faced a harrowing moment, taking a skate to the face during the game.

The incident occurred when Capitals defenseman Martin Feherevary was falling, and his skate clipped Staal's face. Fortunately, the impact wasn't on Staal's neck or eye, offering a slight relief amid the alarming scene.
In the second period, the broadcast captured Staal getting hit by the skate, likely around the forehead area. As of now, Staal has not returned to the game, and his status remains uncertain as the match heads into the second intermission.
We'll be keeping a close eye on any updates regarding Staal's condition.
