Frightening Moment in NY as Defender Requires to be Stretchered off the ice
Hockey is a sport that comes with its fair share of risks, and it's a reality that players and fans alike are aware of.
Unfortunately, from time to time, those risks manifest in the form of injuries that leave everyone in the arena holding their breath. Such a moment unfolded during the New York Islanders clash with the Ottawa Senators tonight.
In the second period, Senators defenseman Erik Brännström collided with Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck. The collision resulted in Brannstrom falling to the ice and hitting his head.
The gravity of the situation was instantly recognized, prompting the referees to halt the play. Medical staff rushed to Brannstrom's aid, and it was evident that the situation was serious when they summoned a stretcher to remove him from the ice.
