As a result of this injury, the Toronto Maple Leafs have taken the official step of placing Liljegren on Long-Term Injured Reserve (LTIR). This means he will be out of action for at least ten games.
The Leafs' PR department released a statement regarding this development:
"The @MapleLeafs have recalled D Simon Benoit and D Max Lajoie from the @TorontoMarlies.
D Timothy Liljegren has been placed on long-term injured reserve."
