After 16 seasons in the NHL Brian Elliott has official announced his retirement as an NHL goaltender.

Brian Elliott's 16-year NHL career will come to an end on Monday as the St. Louis Blues revealed the specifics of their forthcoming Development Camp, along with the news that he will be joining them to assist with goaltender development and scouting.

"Brian Elliott will join the #stlblues in a development role. Will work with amateur staff regarding future players. Steen spoke to Elliott. Armstrong reached out the next day and Elliott said he was available. Elliott will be at development camp." Lou Korac of NHL.com said.

"- Brian Elliott has joined the organization to help with goalie development and scouting." Matthew DeFranks said.

The Ottawa Senators selected Elliott, an Ontario native, in the ninth round (291st overall) of the 2003 draft. He went on to play in 542 NHL games with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Colorado Avalanche, Calgary Flames, St. Louis Blues, Philadelphia Flyers, and Senators.

Elliott finished with a 279-167-54 record in 542 games, a 2.57 goals against average, a.909 save percentage, and 44 shutouts. Additionally, he played in 48 Stanley Cup Playoff games for Philadelphia, Ottawa, and St. Louis.

Goalie development in the St. Louis Blues system is well-managed by Brian Elliott, who can also provide a wealth of knowledge to help these players on their ultimate path to the NHL.
