Alex Galchenyuk close to signing new contract
In August, former 3rd overall pick Alex Galchenyuk was connected with a possible move that would see him sign with Spartak Moscow in the KHL, but those rumors have since fizzled.
It now appears that Galchenyuk is about to sign a contract with another KHL team - SKA St. Petersburg. 2023 7th overall pick Matvei Michkov also currently plays for SKA and could see time next to Galchenyuk.
"Something to keep an eye on. 👀
Stepan Voronkov reports that Alex Galchenyuk will soon sign a contract with SKA. #KHL
As of right now, SKA is WAY over the cap." Hockey News Hub said on Twitter.
The 29-year-old had signed a contract with Arizona Coyotes, but Galchenyuk had his contract terminated shortly after due to being arrested by Scottsdale Police. Galchenyuk faces changes of private property hit-and-run, disorderly conduct, failure to obey, resisting arrest and threatening or intimidating.
Galchenyuk issued an apology to everyone involved including the police officers and the Coyotes organization. Galchenyuk commited to enterinf the NHL/NHLPA Players Assistance Program, but it's unclear if he's still enrolled in the program.
