It caused quite a buzz on social media when it went down. Now, Carson Briere, son of ex-NHL player and current Philadelphia Flyers GM Danny Briere, has faced the consequences for pushing an empty wheelchair down some stairs, breaking it during a party.

During the recent court session, Sydney Benes, the wheelchair owner, shared how the incident at Sullivan's Pub & Eatery in March affected her.
"Sydney Benes, who lost her legs in an automobile accident in 2021, talked in an Erie courtroom on Tuesday about the embarrassment she had to deal with in March when she was carried downstairs to use the bathroom at Sullivan's Pub & Eatery.

Then there was the humiliation of finding her wheelchair, which had been pushed from the top of the stairs, sitting damaged at the bottom of those stairs, she said."
- Erie Times-News
Briere and fellow athlete Patrick Carrozzi got handed 15-month suspended sentences for a second-degree misdemeanor count of criminal mischief. Completing the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) program successfully would mean dismissal and expungement of their charges.
"They will each receive 15 months of probation and their charges of second-degree misdemeanor criminal mischief will be dismissed and expunged upon successfully completing the program."
- New York Times
Briere expressed sincere apologies post-incident, asserting it was out of character for him, and funds were arranged to cover the cost of a replacement wheelchair.
