On Wednesday it looked like the investigation into Mike Babcock would go nowhere. The Jackets issued a statement in support of their head coach. While it seems the investigation was over on Wednesday today, that is not the case.
According to Elliotte Friedman, some of the younger Blue Jackets' players felt uncomfortable with the interaction with Babcock, possibly due to having their privacy violated, or from their new coach unfairly forming opinions on them based on their camera roll. TSN's Katie Strang confirmed these new details, and reported that Babcock will meet with the NHL's office in New York tomorrow, where the NHLPA will address these claims in context of Babcock's previous allegations from former players.
The NHL and NHLPA will now meet today in New York to discuss the evidence in the Mike Babcock case. While some players threw support behind their coach, it looks like behind closed doors another story has been told.
If the NHLPA decides to put additional pressure on this situation, this could mark the end of the of Mike Babcock's career. Surely no team will take a chance on the veteran if this situation turns out to be as bad as some believe it is.
