Former top 10 pick placed on waivers along with 16 other players

The NHL season is set to begin in just five days. Final rosters need to be submitted to the league by 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday, October 10th, half-an-hour before the first game of the new season between Tampa Bay and Nashville.

As teams prepare for their final preseason games and training camps, rosters are being cut down in preparation for opening night and several players have been put on the waiver wire.
According to TSN's Chris Johnston, a total of 16 players were placed on the waiver wire on Thursday afternoon including former eighth overall pick Alexander Nylander. Let's take a look at the full list.

Thursday's Waiver List
As is always the case from the opening of the waiver wire until the end of October, the order of teams that can place a claim is based off of last season's standings in reverse. The Anaheim Ducks get the first crack at placing a claim on any of the players above, followed by the Columbus Blue Jackets and Chicago Blackhawks.
If any of the players above go unclaimed on Friday afternoon, they'll be assigned to their respective teams American Hockey League affiliate.
