The NHL seems to want to play more games than ever, especially with such a packed preseason, and yet every so often external factors cause plans to be cancelled. Last season, the league had only postponed games due to inclement weather, and when the Nashville Predators arena was flooded after a broken pipe.
Today, the NHL may have to make a difficult decision on the preseason game between the New York Rangers and New York Islanders. The team is scheduled to play at the Islanders' home in UBS Arena, but the area is currently facing historical flooding.
The Governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, as declared a state of emergency, claiming New York City doesn't have the resources to overcome the flooding they're facing.
