Now through the pre-season and with opening rosters set for the season, waiver activity in the NHL has slowed down. However, today one forward is finding himself on waivers today for contract termination.
According to a report from NHL insider Chris Johnston, the St. Louis Blues are waiving Andre Heim today with the intention of contract termination.
Now 25 years old, Heim signed with the Blues last season after spending the bulk of his career in the National League, the top league in Switzerland.
Last year, Heim played 42 games for HC Ambri-Piotta of the National League, scoring 12 goals and 31 points - lacklustre production for an NHL fringe prospect nearing his prime.
Tomorrow, when Heim likely clears unconditional waivers, he'll become an unrestricted free agent, and will likely continue his playing career overseas.
