Three-time Stanley Cup champion on Canada's staff for 2024 World Juniors
In two months time, Hockey Canada will be gathering for their selection camp ahead of the 2024 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Gothenburg, Sweden.
On Friday, TSN's Darren Dreger revealed who will be apart of Canada's coaching and management staff for the tournament. Alan Letang of the OHL's Sarnia Sting will be behind the bench as the team's Head Coach, while three-time Stanley Cup champion Brent Seabrook will be apart of Canada's management group.
"Team Canada U20 coach and management announcement today. Alan Letang Head Coach, Pete Anholt and Brent Seabrook management group." Dreger said in a post on X.
Seabrook, 38, was forced to stop playing due to injury, but remains under contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning until the end of the 2023-24 season. Once his contract is up, Seabrook intends on retiring from professional hockey. Last season, Seabrook was a development coach with the Western Hockey League's Vancouver Giants.
Canada will begin their quest for a third-straight gold medal at the World Juniors on Boxing Day against Finland. In the preliminary round, they'll also face Latvia on December 27th, Sweden on December 29th and Germany on New Year's Eve.
