Perfect trade partners are difficult to find in the NHL. With every team having different strengths and needs, it's tough to find someone to make a deal with. Add in the salary cap and teams trying to compete for the playoffs and we've seen a steep decline in trades.
Well one former player and NHL Insider feels the Leafs and Ducks could be a match made in heaven. Currently the Ducks have two holdouts in Jamie Drysdale and Trevor Zegras, while the Leafs have William Nylander, who is entering the final year of his contract. Matt Murley Spittin' Chiclets believes that the Leafs and Zegras are a perfect fit, while the Ducks would happily pay Nylander the $10,000,000 a season he is hoping for.
It's unlikely the Ducks will be willing to give up on Zegras so soon, but reports continue to state that with every passing day Zegras grows more frustrated with the team an process. Clearly it's a situation where the player and the team have two very different valuations.
