Two new teams enter Patrick Kane sweepstakes including surprising Atlantic Division team
NHL Free Agency began on July 1st and one of the most talented players available still remains unsigned. That player is former New York Rangers player, Patrick Kane. Kane's availability is likely in part due to the fact that Kane underwent hip surgery earlier this summer to help him overcome a nagging injury. Now it appears that the sweepstakes for Patrick Kane is heating up.
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, two new teams entered talks with Kane over the last week. At the trade deadline the New York Islanders pursued Kane and according to Pagnotta the Islanders are once again in pursuit of Kane. More surprisingly though, according to Pagnotta the Boston Bruins have reportedly entered the conversation.
Kane, 34, played 73 game last season, between the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers. Despite injury, Kane scored 21 goals and added 36 assists for a total of 57 points.
It is expected that many teams will want to see Kane practice before committing term or money to him, but the interest in Kane has reached a fever pitch. It's only a matter of time before he finds his way onto an NHL roster.
