In 2008, the New York Islanders used their 5th round pick to draft Kevin Poulin. Poulin was a promising QMJHL prospect with the Victoriaville Tigres. After being selected by the Islanders, Poulin remained in the QMJHL for 2 additional seasons.

Poulin would eventually turn pro and make his debut during the 2010/11 season playing in 10 games. Today Poulin took to his Instagram to share the following news.
After 13 years playing pro hockey all over the world and spending the last two years playing here at home, am proud to announce my retirement.

I would like to thank my family, teammates, coaches, fans and everyone who was involved in the making. My younger self would be proud of my career and for accomplishing so many dreams of mine.

I'm ready to leave the game behind and know it's not gonna be easy but will always be grateful for the memories, opportunities and connections it gave me and for making me a better man.

This coming season, be at the rink, this time to cheers for the next generation my kids!

In his entire career Poulin would be limited to just 50 NHL games, all of which he played for the Islanders. Poulin would leave the NHL for good in 2016, but would continue his professional career. Poulin continued his career in Europe before returning to finish his professional career as a member of the Laval Rockets.
Congrats Kevin Poulin on a great career.
