Two logos that became famous in the 1990s are returning starting next season as the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings officially unveiled their new uniforms on Wednesday.
The Los Angeles Kings, who are throwing it back to the Gretzky-era, were the first of the two teams to unveil their new uniforms today. Their logo was officially unveiled the other day, which is their 90s logo with some slight alterations, including a new crown.
As for their uniforms, they also look almost identical to those that the Los Angeles Kings wore for a decade from 1988 to 1998, but also has some slight alterations, including the numbers being placed above rather than inside of the wide stripe on the sleeves. With their home jerseys, the Kings will wear matte black helmets, while white helmets accompany the road uniforms - sorry to those who were fans of the chrome.
The home jersey is black with silver striping and a wide white stripe on the bottom of the uniform, as well as the the sleeves. As for their road jerseys, they're primarily white with black and silver striping.
The Anaheim Ducks then unveiled their new uniforms and after several years of fans asking for its return, the Mighty Ducks logo is BACK on a full-time basis. Some slight alterations come with this version of the logo, including orange eyes and hockey sticks to go with the team embracing their Orange County roots.
For Anaheim's home jersey, the primary colour is orange, in a slightly darker shade than the one they wore for several years as an alternate uniform. The team will also be using a new typeface for their numbers and lettering on both the home and away jerseys, with gold and black stripes featuring as well. The Ducks will be wearing orange pants and orange helmets with their home uniform.
Their road jersey will become a fan favourite pretty quickly. Instead of going for a fully white jersey, the Ducks have added orange to the shoulders and bottom of the uniforms and sleeves to accompany the gold and black striping.
Fans of both teams, and hockey fans in general, will get their first look at these uniforms this coming weekend when the NHL hosts their Entry Draft at The Sphere in Las Vegas.
