Don Waddell, general manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, is expected to leave the team this summer due to an expiring contract, according to an insider.
For ten years, Don Wadell has served as the Carolina Hurricanes' general manager. Nonetheless, it seems that they are expected to part ways with their longtime general manager as his contract expires this summer.
In addition to the previously reported information, LeBrun stated that Waddell had an interview yesterday for the position of general manager of the Columbus Blue Jackets, which is now open.
Caroline has had excellent regular season success, but much like the rest of the league, they have never been able to overcome it and have continued to have postseason success far into the second season. Even though they recently allowed Waddell to sign Rod Brind'Amour to a five-year contract extension—which is strange given that he's most likely going to depart the team—perhaps Carolina should move in a different way.
