Former Penguins forward Jean-Sebastien Dea has signed a new professional contract with Eisbaren Berlin in Germany's top DEL hockey league.

Former Pittsburgh Penguin Jean-Sebastien Dea has signed with German Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) club Eisbären Berlin through the end of the 2025-26 season. The recent German champions announced the signing on Wednesday.
Dea, a 31-year-old from Laval, Quebec, started the current campaign with Russia's Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) side Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk before an amicable agreement to leave the club.
"I'm very excited to be joining the Eisbären Berlin. The Eisbären are a great organization, and I'm thrilled about this opportunity. I already know some of my new teammates and have heard incredible things about the city and the fans. I can't wait to meet everyone, get started, and hopefully bring another championship to Berlin," explains Jean-Sébastien Dea.
He has appeared for various KHL clubs within his previous three seasons, including Metallurg Magnitogorsk, scoring over 50 points in 120 matches.
In North America, Dea played stints for Pittsburgh in the late 2010s for three years, playing nine games in the NHL and scoring two goals.

He also played for the Arizona Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres, New Jersey Devils, and their affiliates, tallying a total of 354 points (159 goals, 195 assists) in 557 American Hockey League games.
Eisbären Berlin, Europe's most prosperous hockey franchise, signs an international, veteran goal-scorer to the team. The team's vice chairman is current Penguin forward Peter Lee.
This familiar name provides Dea with a connection as he begins the next chapter in his professional career in Germany.
