The hockey community mourns the loss of Ed Chadwick, a former goaltender for the Toronto Maple Leafs, who passed away at the age of 90. The team shared their condolences on their official X account, marking the passing of a true sportsman who left an indelible mark on the game.
We are saddened to learn of the passing of former Leafs netminder Ed Chadwick.
Ed played in 140 consecutive games in net for the Leafs, and is the last Leafs goalie to play in every game in a season. He played five seasons for Toronto, winning 57 games.
Our condolences are with his friends and family.
Chadwick, a stalwart in goal, is celebrated for his remarkable endurance, having played in 140 consecutive games—a record that still stands today as he remains the last Leafs goalie to play every game in a season. His exceptional play etched his name on the Stanley Cup three times, a testament to his skill and tenacity on the ice.
Beyond his illustrious tenure with the Maple Leafs, Chadwick also defended the net for the Boston Bruins. His career extended into the American Hockey League where he played with the Hershey Bears and the Buffalo Bison, showcasing his talents for six more years before hanging up his skates.
As the hockey world reflects on his storied career, our thoughts are with the Chadwick family during this somber time. Ed Chadwick's legacy will forever resonate in the hearts of hockey fans and his former teammates alike.
