Maple Leafs' Philippe Myers caught Sidney Crosby with a high stick during last night's game, and quickly regretted it when he realized it was his idol.

The Pittsburgh Penguins came to Toronto on November 3 with the hope of bouncing back from their game against Winnipeg. For two periods of the match, they played like a team 'in control.'
The Penguins dominated the Toronto Maple Leafs for the first 40 minutes of the game with a 3-0 advantage and gave up just eight attempted shots at goalie Tristan Jarry. Every aspect of their game showed prowess until the third period.
The Penguins fell apart against Toronto's aggressive forecheck. Toronto capitalized on their turnovers and poor defensive coverage to score three goals.
It took just over three minutes to accomplish this against a Penguins team that had seemed to be out of reach. Jarry had been playing well but fell apart in the Penguins' collapse.
To add to the physical element of the night, there was a tense situation that included Sidney Crosby. Crosby was hit high by defenseman Philippe Myers in a desperate attempt to stop a rush to the goalie.

Philippe Myers admitted he was shocked when he realized it was Sidney Crosby he got up high

This caught Myers off guard, who had always looked up to Crosby. It's a testament to Crosby's stature that he still commands respect on the ice.
"I was just stopping him from getting to our goalie & I caught him in the face. I saw it was Sid I was like, 'F--k' ... I kind of idolized him growing up & it's an honour to be on the ice with him"

Despite the defeat, Crosby put on another impressive individual display. At 39 years of age, his overall game is still the cornerstone of the Penguins.
Also impressive in the Penguins' line-up was young forward Ben Kindel with his strongest display to date.
While it is painful to lose a game, it could be just the wake-up call the Penguins need. If they can take the first two periods they played against Toronto and carry it over for a 60-minute game, they have no reason to think this is not just a blip on the screen.
