Mark Giordano is an NHL defenseman who has been known for his longevity, as well as his phenomenal play as a member of the Calgary Flames.
A few seasons ago, Giordano went to the Seattle Kraken, before going to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Last year, he had the worst season of his career as he had just nine points in 36 games. Overall, fans were pretty disappointed with his output, and now, he finds himself without a contract. However, he has made it crystal clear that he would love to continue playing in the NHL.
According to reporter Eric Francis, Giordano is facing an extremely harsh reality. The Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs have both said they are not interested. Meanwhile, even Calgary Flames GM Craig Conroy has shut the door on a reunion. Needless to say, not ideal stuff whatsoever.
At the end of the day, Mark Giordano is 41 years old and isn't as fast as he used to be. Moreover, he is more injury-prone due to his age. With the league skewing younger and younger, it makes sense that teams would be passing up on him right now. Only time will tell whether or not Giordano can get a PTO or some sort of small contract with a good team.
Do you believe that Giordano will finally get a contract in the NHL prior to the start of the season? Or do you believe his career is over? Let us know in the poll down below and stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
