Multiple Suspensions Handed Out After Heated Bench-Clearing Brawl Broke Out
Five players have been suspended following a heated bench-clearing brawl between Mora and AIK in Sweden's HockeyAllsvensken.
In the midst of a first-round playoff series, both teams were deadlocked at 3-3 in game 4 with about five minutes left in the second overtime period. A Mora player's goal secured a 4-3 win over AIK, evening the series at two games apiece. Excited Mora players leaped over the bench to celebrate, prompting a reaction from the AIK players who also jumped over the boards to confront them.
Multiple fights ensued, including an incident where an official was struck with a punch and another player threw gloves at a referee.
Mora's Anthon Eriksson and Jakob Stoffling received two-game suspensions each, while AIK's William Ignberg Nilsson and Oskar Magnusson were each handed two-game bans. Additionally, Daniel Muzito-Bagenda received a three-game suspension due to his involvement in the altercation with the referee.
With game 5 scheduled for Monday, both teams will be missing a couple of players, relying on replacements to fill their rosters. HockeyAllSvenskan serves as Sweden's second-tier professional hockey league, sitting behind the SHL.
