Sidney Crosby joins Team Canada on the ice after a USA overtime gold medal loss, and it feels like the whole country exhales at once.

Canada and the United States just played the kind of final that leaves your hands shaking.
It finished 2-1 for the Americans in overtime.
Matt Boldy opened it early for the U.S., and Canada chased the game with pressure that never really stopped.
Cale Makar finally tied it late in the second, and you could feel the bench believe again.
Connor Hellebuyck held the line, even when Canada tilted the ice and started living in the slot.
Then 3-on-3 overtime arrived, and Jack Hughes ended it fast.
Crosby didn’t play, ruled out with a lower-body injury, and that alone hung over everything.
But the moment people will replay is him stepping onto the ice anyway, in full gear, to be with his guys.

Sidney Crosby gives Team Canada a last stand

That’s the part that hits fans hardest, this team lost gold, and the captain still shows up to carry the weight in public.
If you’re a teammate, that’s not symbolism, that’s relief.
Crosby joining them for the medal ceremony is him refusing to let anyone drift off alone.
It also screams that whatever the injury is, he’s fighting to stay present, even if he can’t take a shift.
Canada’s room will remember this more than the handshake line.
Now the hard part starts, swallowing silver while the U.S. celebrates a golden goal.
The next time this rivalry meets, Canada is going to play like it still hears that overtime horn.
