Zdeno Chara retired from the National Hockey League just a couple of years ago, and at the age of 47, he has set his sights on personal achievements such as the Ironman Triathlon.
Since retiring, Chara has completed eight marathons and a half Ironman. This weekend, however, he completed his first full Ironman competition. Overall, this involves a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride, and a marathon 26.22-mile run. It is something that requires an intense amount of training, and Chara was able to do it without any issues.
According to Bleacher Report, Chara completed the event in a whopping 10 hours and 48 minutes. Typically, the average person can do this in over 12 hours. It just goes to show how much of a beat Chara really is.
Chara played 1680 games during his NHL career and he split that time between the New York Islanders, Ottawa Senators, Boston Bruins, and the Washington Capitals. He also finished with a total of 680 points and 2085 penalty minutes. If one thing is for certain, it is that Chara is a legend of the game who deserves his flowers.
