According to NHL Insider Frank Seravalli, a significant transaction might occur prior to the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers' 2024 Stanley Cup Final.

The Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers will square off in the 2024 Stanley Cup Final in a few days, but other NHL clubs have more important and intimate matters to attend to. The Carolina Hurricanes are one of them, and an insider thinks a big move might occur before game one starts.
According to Frank Seravalli's most recent Rundown on Daily Faceoff, the Hurricanes are eager to deal forward Martin Necas, 25, to another team.
"I wouldn't be shocked to see Marty Necas dealt before Game 1 of the Cup Final on Saturday."
As a restricted free agent, Necas is expected to receive a rise from the $3 million annual salary he has been receiving for the last three seasons. Nonetheless, it appears like Carolina intends to sign free agents Seth Jarvis and Jake Guentzel, which will leave little to no space for Necas's pay.
"The Carolina Hurricanes have a lot to figure out this offseason, one of which is decisions on their three big RFAs: Jack Drury, Seth Jarvis and Martin Necas."
Necas finished the 2023-24 seasons with 24 goals and 53 points. Landing him will likely cost a bundle, but it could very well be worth it in the long run.
"Why aren't any Rangers fans mentioning Martin Necas? He is a natural Center, RFA who wants to be a top line player. He is frustrated in Carolina and may want out. Of course the Rangers would have to trade with Carolina to get his RFA rights but I'm sure it could happen."
