Rutger McGroarty of the Winnipeg Jets has been embroiled in trade rumors for weeks now, and today, the team finally pulled the trigger on a deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

McGroarty was drafted 14th overall by the Jets in the 2022 Entry Draft. However, he has not played a single game for them or their farm team. It had become clear that McGroarty wanted to move on. Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Penguins are a team that could benefit from new young talents.
According to Elliotte Friedman, the trade is done but some of the details have yet to be revealed. Either way, this is huge for the Penguins, and we're sure Jets fans will be hoping for a massive return.
McGroarty has spent the last two seasons with the University of Michigan. Last season, he had 52 points in 36 games. The year before that, he scored 39 points in 36 games. Needless to say, the kid has a ton of talent and the Penguins have certainly gotten themselves a potential superstar.
