Last night's preseason game brought an amazing moment for hockey fans- generational star Sidney Crosby dropped the gloves to fight.
Penguin's star defender Kris Letang's retrieved the puck behind his own net, and was crushed twice in succession by the Sabres' Peyton Krebs and Tyson Jost. Crosby immediately hunts down Krebs, delivers a few cross checks, and drops the gloves to fight and stand up for Letang.
The fight didn't last long, and didn't include many direct punches, but Crosby delivered some hard blows to Krebs, and showed his willingness to drop the gloves. The officials quickly separated the players as they fell to the ice.
It's a rare sight to see of Crosby fighting, one of the generation's best players, especially so in a preseason contest. Perhaps Crosby is setting the tone for the year, showing that the Penguins will have more emphasis on team toughness. With captain and generational-great Crosby leading the way, the rest of the team will undoubtedly buy in.
