Dumais, who clinched last year's MVP title in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) while playing for the Halifax Mooseheads, is scheduled for his court appearance in Nova Scotia on April 9.
The 19-year-old was arrested in Halifax on March 1. Following this, on March 15, he faced a suspension of five games by the Mooseheads, affecting four regular-season games and one postseason game.
Last season, Dumais dazzled with 140 points over 64 games for the Mooseheads. This year, limited by an injury, he has played only 21 games but still managed to score 16 goals and tally up 47 points. While Dumais has yet to make his regular-season debut with the Columbus Blue Jackets since being drafted in the third round in 2022, he turned heads with a remarkable overtime goal during the preseason with Columbus.
