Yegor Chinakhov is likely to be on the move soon, and now Elliotte Friedman has weighed in on an intriguing trade proposal with the Maple Leafs.
A few weeks ago, Yegor Chinakhov surprising asked for a trade from the Columbus Blue Jackets, and while we haven't seen much movement yet, the expectation is that he will be dealt by the team at some point.
Don Waddell, Blue Jackets
GM fired back at Chinakhov for the request, so it may get a lot uglier before we find a resolution, but all around the league teams have been linked to the talented 24-year old.
Elliotte Friedman Addresses Potential Trade with Chinakhov
Recently, the idea was brought up to Elliotte Friedman on the
32 Thoughts podcast about a potential deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs involving Nick Robertson for Chinakhov, and he revealed what it would take to get a deal done.
"One Columbus fan asked me if Chinakhov for (Nick) Robertson made sense. I don't know, I think Toronto would have to do more to get that done."
Should the Maple Leafs target Yegor Chinakhov?
The biggest problem for the Toronto Maple Leafs heading into next season is their logjam of forwards, so adding a talented piece like Chinakhov could see them land a top-six talent, but to make it happen, they'll need to part with several assets.
Ultimately, according to Friedman it's going to cost Toronto more than just Robertson, but with a long list of forwards to potentially move out, there could be a deal to be made for the former first-round pick, who could take a huge step forward with the team.
