Yegor Chinakhov requested a trade from Columbus earlier this off-season, but now it appears he may have changed his tune after officially firing his agent.
Earlier this summer, it was revealed in an explosive interview home in Russia that Columbus Blue Jackets winger Yegor Chinakhov requested a trade from the team after some disagreements with coach Dean Evason.
Since that point, Chinakhov has returned to training camp with the team, and while the trade request reportedly hasn't been smoothed over, there's a chance that with time around his teammates, he could rescind the request.

Now, with the regular season just days away, a report from
The Athletic's Aaron Portzline has revealed that Chinakhov has switched agents, leaving his future with the Blue Jackets up in the air.
What it means for Chinkahov's future in Columbus is unclear.
Last season, Chinakhov struggled for consistent playing time in Columbus, tallying 7 goals and 15 points in 30 games played, and whether or not this new agent will suggest he remain in Columbus or work hard to find him a trade, we simply don't yet know.
After being drafted No. 21 overall back in 2020, Chinakhov has gotten his chances in the NHL, but with a lack of a consistent role and consistent linemates, it's been hard for him to find his best form and what will work for him in the NHL.
Ultimately, there's still plenty of talent there, with reported interest in him around the league, but with the Blue Jackets clearly not looking to move on from the 24-year old, perhaps this switch in agents is just what he needs to thrive with Columbus, rather than move on from the organization.
