LA Kings legend sends the Maple Leafs a warning moments before game
One of the standout defensemen from the 2010s, Drew Doughty, has issued a clear warning to the stars of the Maple Leafs.
Doughty's Powerful Slap Shot
Even at 33 years of age, Drew Doughty still packs a punch on the ice. He's been known for his lethal power-play shots that can both score and send a strong message to opponents who challenge him.
Doughty embodies the tough, no-nonsense Western Conference style of hockey. He's made a reputation for taking 200 mph slap shots without hesitation. On the eve of the game, Doughty aimed his warning directly at two prominent Leafs players.
Doughty's Message to Leafs Superstars
With the game scheduled for an 8 p.m. ET start on Halloween night, Doughty made sure his message was heard, particularly by two key Leafs players.
Doughty's thoughts on Matthews and Nylander getting penalty kill time for the Leafs are clear:
"You gotta be aware... but my job doesn't change. If they're in the lane, I'm going to shoot just as hard. Sometimes it's good to send a puck off someone's shin pad. It's part of the game."
Doughty is determined to make his powerful shot count, either by scoring or causing problems for the Leafs.
To safeguard Marner and Matthews, the Leafs will need to avoid penalties and keep the puck away from Doughty when defending.
