Marc-Andre Fleury's legendary career is quickly coming to an end, but before it does, he's broken yet another Stanley Cup Playoffs record.
The Minnesota Wild lost Game 5 on Tuesday night, falling to 3-2 in their series against the Vegas Golden Knights, meaning that Game 6 could be the final one in the long, illustrious career of veteran goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury.
Late in the game, No. 29 entered only to give up the game winning overtime goal, but in the process, the 40-year old star once again made NHL history, surpassing one of the greatest goalies in NHL history.
With his appearance in the game, it makes it the 18th different Stanley Cup Playoffs that Fleury has appeared in, surpassing Martin Brodeur (17) for the most in league history.
While it's definitely not one Fleury is going to remember due to the very little gametime and the OT winner that saw Minnesota fall 3-2, it's yet another notch on the belt of one of the greatest goaltenders that the NHL has ever seen.
Unfortunately for Fleury, unless the Wild can pull off a major comeback against the Western Conference No. 2 seed, it may have been the final time that we see Fleury on the ice in the NHL, as his iconic career is quickly coming to an end with the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Most will remember Fleury's time with the Pittsburgh Penguins, but since then he's played in Chicago, Vegas and now Minnesota, and while there will be varying opinions on Fleury's place in NHL history among elite level goaltenders, the records speak for themselves, and after appearing in 18 different playoffs, one can't help but admire the longevity he's managed.
