After Fleury's last meeting with the Washington Capitals, he embraced Alex Ovechkin at centre ice in a very emotional moment for both players, and now, it's been revealed what Ovi said in that moment.
At 40-years of age, Fleury has appeared in just 23 games this season, by far the lowest total of his career, so while he's still playing well, posting a 2.78 GAA and a .903 save percentage, it's safe to say that he's definitely done after this campaign, with the Wild looking to make a post-season push in his final year.
That moment must have been surreal for both players, who first matched up way back in the 2005/06 campaign when Fleury was in net for the Pittsburgh Penguins, and over the next decade, the two would do battle on many occasions, with Ovechkin scoring 28 goals against Fleury, the most against any opponent, six more than against
Carey Price in second spot.
After all of that, it's easy to see that a bond and a great respect has grown between the pair, and while fans and coaching staff's will be sad to see Fleury retire, it's safe to say that many opposing players like Ovi will too.
