Sidney Crosby Shatters Penguins and NHL Record with Historic Achievement

Sidney Crosby has already shatter some NHL records this season, as the biggest of all was when he passed Wayne Gretzky for the most point-per-game seasons in NHL history with number 20.

The history doesn't stop there however, as he passed Jaromir Jagr for the most points against the Ottawa Senators in NHL history with his 58th, and he got that done with a dramatic overtime winner to seal a 1-0 victory.

That wasn't the only history he made on that shot however, as he became the first player in Pittsburgh Penguins history to have four overtime winners in a single season, showing that even when the team around him struggles, Crosby is still one of the best players in the league.

On top of that, he's also the first person aged 37 or older to have four in a single season, as the Penguins captain seems to somehow get better with age even with over 1,500 games at the NHL level under his belt.

With 81 points in 73 games this season, Crosby is showing no signs of slowing down at all, and with a young core now forming around him, this is a player that's still capable of elevating an entire team around him.

Ultimately, Crosby is a one of a kind player that has lived up to and exceeded all the hype that surrounded him when he first arrived on the scene in the NHL, and while no one would blame him for chasing a Stanley Cup, he has continued to use his excellence to try and elevate this Penguins team, something he'll continue to do until his stellar career comes to a close.
