Kaiden Guhle Faces Suspension For Slashing Player While On The Bench
Just in, Montreal Canadiens defenseman Kaiden Guhle is facing suspension for slashing Philadelphia Flyers Travis Konecny from the bench.
During a heated moment, Konecny skated by the Canadiens' bench after an altercation on the ice, only to be met with a hard slash from Guhle.
This act is widely condemned as cowardly and dangerous. Guhle's action, attacking a player from the safety of the bench, could have resulted in serious injury.
With little precedent for such behavior, the Department of Player Safety's decision on the suspension will be closely watched. Given the severity of the incident, a harsh penalty is expected to send a clear message that such actions are unacceptable.
An in-person hearing isn't scheduled, so the suspension is likely to be five games or less.
