NY Islanders Head Coaches Job Is In Jeopardy After Embarrassing Loss
In the realm of NHL head coaching, there's always an expiration date, and for some, it arrives sooner than expected. The New York Islanders embarked on this season with sky-high expectations, but unfortunately, those expectations remain unfulfilled.
Currently holding a record of 10-7-7, with a recent 5-1-4 streak in their last 10 games, the Islanders are leaving fans dissatisfied. Earlier this year, the target for criticism was General Manager Lou Lamoriello. Tonight, however, fans shifted their focus to Head Coach Lane Lambert.
Despite holding a 4-1 lead with just over 8 minutes left in the 3rd period, the Islanders not only lost it, but they ultimately fell 5-4 in overtime. Post-game, disgruntled fans made their feelings abundantly clear. As chants of "fire Lambert" echoed through the arena, even Islanders beat writers joined the chorus, expressing their discontent.
You cannot let Lane Lambert coach on Thursday.
Nothing else needs to be said. Tonight was the final straw. #Isles
