Conor Sheary was once a key piece of the Pittsburgh Penguins lineup, but now he's looking to revive his career after signing a PTO with the rival New York Rangers.
Way back in 2015/16, Conor Sheary began his NHL career with the Pittsburgh Penguins after going un-drafted, playing 105 regular season games and 45 post-season games as the Penguins would win back-to-back Stanley Cups.
Since then however he's bounced around the league, having stints with Buffalo, Washington and Tampa Bay with another stint in Pittsburgh, and now we know where he'll be trying to play in 2025/26.
After playing just 5 NHL games a season ago,
Sheary has officially inked a PTO with the Metropolitan Division rival New York Rangers, as officially reported by Rangers reporter Mollie Walker of the New York Post.
Unfortunately for Sheary, after such a hot start to his career, he's become a solid, dependable piece in the bottom-six, but with very few standout performances, he's had to bounce around the league to try and battle for playing time in recent years.
In the past three years, Sheary has tallied 52 points in the NHL in 144 games played, so while he can still be dependable, he's just not the player that scored 10 points in 23 games in the post-season back in his rookie campaign with the Penguins, but this gives him another chance to fight for a roster spot.
If he gets that spot, Sheary will once again be an Eastern Conference rival as he looks for a role with the New York Rangers, and even if he is a rival, there will be plenty of Penguins fans cheering him on.
