Per a new report from NHL analyst Anthony Di Marco, the Philadelphia Flyers could be considering a change to their goaltending after this year because of the ongoing inconsistency of Samuel Ersson.
Over the last several decades, perhaps the biggest position of need that the Philadelphia Flyers have never been able to figure out is goaltending.
Right now, the Flyers are going with the tandem of Samuel Ersson and Dan Vladar, but there's been an indication that they could potentially be going in a new direction after this year.
Per a new report from NHL analyst Anthony Di Marco, the Flyers could potentially consider moving on from Ersson, who is a pending UFA.
Anthony Di Marco: Samuel Ersson (RFA at season’s end) has continued to struggle this season and, by the sounds of it, it appears that the Flyers are finally prepared to explore outside options - Daily Faceoff (2/3)
So far this year, Ersson, who was taken by the Flyers with the 143rd pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, has gone 8-10-5 with a very subpar .856 SV% and zero shutouts.
The Flyers Haven't Had A Bonafide Starter In Years
The Flyers have gone through multiple goalies over the last several decades that they thought were going to be their solution in the net.

The Flyers have not raised the Stanley Cup since the mid 1970s, and until they finally get that situation resolved, that drought will continue.
