The 2024/25 campaign was full of history making moments, but none were bigger than when Alex Ovechkin officially passed Wayne Gretzky as the NHL's all-time leading goal scorer.

As a result, he was showered with praise, given gifts and has become revered as a history maker in the National Hockey League, with the story of a gift being given to him by long time Pittsburgh Penguins rivals Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin going viral.

Now, the Capitals captain has revealed the incredible Rolex that was given to him by his long-time rivals, and it's an absolute thing of beauty and a great gift from two long-time rivals who have grown to have great respect for each other.

This is something that Crosby and Malkin didn't have to do, but in the process of doing so, Ovechkin revealed how supportive he and Crosby have been with each other throughout their careers, and given the respect they've got for one another, it was a beautiful gesture by the Penguins captain.

The beautiful gift won't mean that they'll stop going hard against each other when they do battle, but it shows that away from the ice, there's so much respect and love between star players like this that have been made out to be rivals throughout their careers.
