Bryan Rust has been consistent for the Penguins throughout his career, but after a recent projection, his trade value may be falling considerably.

Back in 2014/15, the Pittsburgh Penguins brought in Bryan Rust, and while his career started slow, he's been a staple of this talented forward group since establishing himself in the league.
His career high came just last season when he put together 31 goals and 65 points, but at 33-years of age with the Penguins heading towards a rebuild, it's been heavily speculated this summer that he could be moved on by the organization.

Age, Durability, and Team Context Shape Rust's Outlook

While he's never gone over 70 points in a season, Rust has been very consistent, scoring between 42-65 points for each of the last six seasons, with many expecting more if not for injuries.
Now, with the team around him struggling, analysts expect a step back in 2025/26, with Last Word on Sports crunching the numbers and projecting the 33-year old to put up just 58 points next season.

Why Rust Remains a Reliable Mid-Round Fantasy Pick

Playing next to Sidney Crosby however, there's always the chance that if healthy, Rust can take his game to a new level, and while he's never going to be a top-tier, 100-point winger, he's shown just how valuable he can be at both ends of the ice.
Heading into the new season though, it's likely that Rust will remain a trade chip for a rebuilding Penguins team, but if he starts off the season like a 58-point player, it's safe to say that the return in a potential trade for Pittsburgh may not exactly be what they're looking for.
