Brad Marchand dedicates Canada’s semifinal win over Finland to captain Sidney Crosby in emotional interview

Team Canada have battled injuries at the 2026 Olympic Games, and while Josh Morrissey remains out, it was clearly captain Sidney Crosby who was the biggest loss for this team following their quarterfinal win over Czechia.

Unfortunately, that injury forced the long-time captain to miss their semifinal matchup against Finland, but despite his absence, a late Nathan MacKinnon goal booked them a spot in the Gold Medal Game where they will battle the United States once again.

Thankfully for Canada, they had a very handy replacement for Crosby as captain in Connor McDavid, but after the game, he revealed that he's just keeping Crosby's spot as captain warm, and will not continue in the role if he can return against the US.

Then, another fellow veteran in Brad Marchand addressed the injury Canadian captain in an emotional interview, revealing that the team were motivated to do it for Sid and give him a chance at another gold medal.

After winning gold three times in best-on-best Olympic Hockey, the Canadians had the perfect opportunity to do the same this year, and in what may be Crosby's final Olympics, the team rallied around him to try and give him a shot at winning his third gold with Team Canada.

Only time will tell whether or not 87 can return to face the US, but for now, the team are rallying around him, and if he's healthy enough to play, it will be a major boost for this team.
