Sidney Crosby sat out Canada’s Olympic semifinal, and still owned the room.
It is the kind of thing only teammates notice, the calm between periods.
Players told TSN’s Ryan Rishaug that Crosby played a big, behind-the-scenes role in the locker room.
Not on a whiteboard for cameras, but in the little moments.
A reminder here, leadership is not always a shift, sometimes it is a sentence.
Canada looked shaky early against Finland, then found its legs again.
Sam Reinhart got them on the board, and the bench woke up.
Shea Theodore tied it, and suddenly the whole game tilted.
Sidney Crosby steadies Team Canada when legs fail
If you’re a Canada fan, you felt that familiar relief, the room still had its heartbeat.
Nathan MacKinnon buried the winner with 35.2 seconds left on the man advantage.
Connor McDavid wore the “C” and fed the play that ended it.
That is the part Crosby influences even when he cannot take a draw.
He sets the standard, then the stars follow it like it is gravity.
Jon Cooper basically said the same thing without saying it softly.
“He’s got a lot better chance of playing in the gold medal game than he did today.”
