Bryan Rust Breaks his Silence on his Future with the Pittsburgh Penguins
Pittsburgh Penguins' Bryan Rust recently spoke about his future with the team, and he stated that he wants to remain here and has told GM Kyle Dubas as well.
One player whose name might be at the top of those discussions is veteran Penguins winger Bryan Rust.
Rust, who will be 33 next month, is having a career season, tallying a career-high 29 goals with one final game remaining.
His current contract has a no-movement clause, an agreement that gives him control over his fate, but that restriction will expire this summer.
Rust has made it publicly known he absolutely does not want to be traded
Following Wednesday's practice at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, Rust wasn't afraid to take a stand. He's made it abundantly clear to anyone who will listen, including the Penguins' front office, that he does not wish to be traded.
"Yeah. Yeah. And I'll say it to you guys, too. I don't want to leave here. This is home for me. This is where I intend to be. This is where I want to be."
- Bryan Rust
As the season winds down, Penguins players will more than likely conduct their exit interviews and clean out their lockers on Friday.
The club took to the ice for their last full practice of the season,
preparing for their season finale, a home game Thursday against Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.
Because Pittsburgh will not be participating in the playoffs, this will serve as the club's final curtain call of the season.
Despite the uncertainty looming ahead, team captain
Sidney Crosby was seen skating with a bright, unwavering grin, that of a leader who enjoys the game no matter what is on the line, and fans are sure to be smiling as they say goodbye to their team.
