Buffalo Sabres Veteran On The Trade Market: Emerges As Perfect Penguins Trade Target

The Buffalo Sabres are reportedly looking to shake things up this summer, and with some solid draft capital and prospects to deal from, they're likely looking to add a win-now piece that cane help them break their 14-year Stanley Cup Playoffs drought.

While it's expected that they'll only look to move younger players, the Sabres also have to deal with some names that are quite upset about the entire situation, and it could lead to the team moving some shock pieces.

According to James Mirtle of The Athletic, one name that continues to come up in trade conversations is veteran Alex Tuch, who originally returned home to Buffalo in the blockbuster trade of franchise star Jack Eichel, with the 29-year old posting career highs with his new team.

In the past three years, Tuch has tallied 79, 59 and 67 points for a mainly bad Sabres team, but with frustrations growing, he could potentially be moved, and given his affordable contract (one year left with a $4.75 million remaining on his current deal), this could be the chance for the Penguins to land Sidney Crosby a star winger.

It's unclear exactly what the Sabres asking price for Tuch would be, and with the Penguins likely looking to get younger, they can't afford to give up a haul to land a 2026 unrestricted free agent, but if the team want to make a push for the Stanley Cup Playoffs next season, it's safe to say that this could be a solid move for the team.
