The Montreal Canadiens are being urged to sign original Golden Knights forward William Karlsson, who could soon be on the move from Sin City.

Following their elimination in the WCSF by the Edmonton Oilers, the Vegas Golden Knights are in summer mode and have been reported to be on the verge of parting ways with one of the longest-tenured members of the team.
Forward William Karlsson, who has played for the Golden Knights since their inception in 2017, had been included in recent trade talks and could soon be a salary cap casualty if Vegas were to go big-game hunting on the open market in the summer (Mitch Marner, perhaps?).
Karlsson has another 2 years remaining on his current contract with a reasonable AAV (average annual value) of $5.9 million, and could potentially be a fit with the Montreal Canadiens, who are looking for lineup boosts after they returned to the Stanley Cup Playoffs this spring for the 1st time since 2021.
Would not William Karlsson make sense for the Canadiens? Vegas is looking to move him, he's got 2 years left at $5.9M AAV. Would be a perfect 2C.
If the Maple Leafs decide to move on from one or both of Mitch Marner and John Tavares, don't be surprised to see Toronto come calling, either.
Karlsson was to be included in the potential deal that fell through to the Toronto Maple Leafs last summer for Marner, who is now a pending UFA and could very well soon sign with Vegas, per a report from analyst David Pagnotta.
[Vegas and Toronto] had conversations last summer. I know there were reports of Shea Theodore; my understanding is William Karlsson was part of the discussion at one point as well. And he's got some No Trade protection; I believe that also played a factor in that whole discussion.

Karlsson appeared in only 53 games for Vegas this year with 29 points (9G, 20A).
