Sidney Crosby has confirmed his loyalty to Pittsburgh this season, but according to Josh Yohe, the constant losing is starting to take a toll on the captain.
The past few years have been tough on the Pittsburgh Penguins, as they've failed to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs in three straight years despite all of their prior success under this regime.
These struggles have led to the departure of Mike Sullivan, and soon, it's likely to be the end of
Evgeni Malkin in Pittsburgh, with many questioning just how long captain Sidney Crosby wants to be around.
Josh Yohe suggests a blockbuster move could eventuate in Pittsburgh
Up until now, Sidney Crosby has confirmed his loyalty to the organization that drafted him No. 1 overall back in 2005, shutting down all of the rumours about his future and potentially requesting a trade.
However, in a recent piece for
The Athletic, Josh Yohe has opened up on the toll that losing is having on Crosby, suggesting that it could lead to him changing his mind in the coming years.
«There's no question: Crosby is tired of losing, and the past three seasons have taken a toll on him.»
At 38-years of age, Crosby's career is winding down, but after posting 91 points in 80 games played a season ago with the Penguins, he can still clearly get it done at a high level, and if the team start losing again, he may look to chase one last Stanley Cup elsewhere.
Colorado and Montreal are two of many destinations that have been suggested for the superstar forward, and while nothing is imminent, if things continue poorly in Pittsburgh, the unthinkable could soon happen.
