The Penguins are set to kick off their pre-season on Monday, and ahead of their game, Dan Muse has opened up in his first game day press conference.
The Pittsburgh Penguins underwent some major change this off-season, with the biggest of all being the parting of ways with long-time Head Coach Mike Sullivan, who has been replaced by Dan Muse.
The rookie Head Coach is reportedly
setting the tone at practice, with many believing that he could be the coach to lead this team through and beyond their current rebuild.
Muse has his first Game Day presser ahead of the pre-season opener
Now, he gets his first chance as a Head Coach in the NHL ahead of a matchup with the Montreal Canadiens in the pre-season, and beforehand, he gave a
press conference revealing some big details, including the
Joel Blomqvist start, with
Sergei Murashov likely to get some time as well.
On top of that, he had plenty of praise for Tommy Novak as well as other young players, with the young Head Coach's mindset seemingly being to give everyone an opportunity to win a role at some point this pre-season.
"Every moment of training camp is an opportunity to show something"
Novak is one of many players fighting for a role in the bottom-six ahead of what could be a struggling season for the Penguins, and with some young players getting a shot in this matchup against Montreal, we should see a very competitive Penguins squad.
Ultimately, the veterans will already know their roles on this team, but with so many young guys pushing for roster spots in 2025/26, expect this to be a very competitive pre-season as Pittsburgh look to start the Dan Muse era on the right foot.
