This afternoon, Dan Muse spoke to the media and provided a significant update on the timeline for Sidney Crosby's return to the Penguins lineup.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have been without Sidney Crosby for multiple games now after the unfortunate injury he suffered while playing for Team Canada at the Olympics.
Originally, the Penguins announced that Crosby would miss at least four weeks after returning from the Olympics with a knee injury.
This week, less than two weeks after Crosby's diagnosis Penguins head coach Dan Muse took the podium and confirmed that Crosby is significantly ahead of schedule in his recovery.

Dan Muse provides a promising timeline for Sidney Crosby's return to game action

Ahead of the Penguins' game today against the Boston Bruins, Muse was able to provide a major update on Crosby's rehab.
According to Muse, Crosby has a chance to travel with the Penguins on their upcoming road trip and could be back in the lineup any day now as he says the team will take it game by game.
Obviously, he's been skating. Skated with the group. All final decisions will be made after the game.
While this likely means that Crosby is still a couple of games away, it likely signals that he will be back before that predicted four-week threshold.
With Evgeni Malkin still serving his five-game suspension, it will be interesting to see if Crosby pushes to come back early to keep the Penguins in the playoff race until Malkin can return.
Even with this positive news, the Penguins need to be careful and make sure that Crosby isn't limiting himself or risking further injury by coming back sooner, because if he comes back too soon and makes things worse, that could jeopardize the entire Penguins season.
As Crosby continues his rehab and gets closer to game action, we will pass along all of the latest news on his health and game status.
