In some unfortunate news, Penguins forward Boko Imama will be out four to six months after undergoing major surgery to repair a bicep injury he sustained.
This is really a huge blow to the Penguins after Imama had been playing so well and recently scored his first goal as a member of the team. Imama underwent surgery to repair a bicep injury on March 29th.
The surgery was performed at the UPMC Mercy Hospital by Penguins Head Team Physician Dr. Dharmesh Vyas and Dr. John Fowler of UPMC Sports Medicine, the team announced.
The expected recovery time is four to six months, which means
Imama should be ready in time for the start of NHL training camps.
Imama was just starting to find his groove
Imama played a fantastic game for the Penguins last week against the Blue Jackets, where not only did he have a fight, but he also scored a goal, his first as a Penguin. His goal was also the game-winner for Pittsburgh.
"I definitely asked for it," Imama said. "Obviously, I want to let my teammates know and everybody know that's what I'm here to do. Play that physical game, and I'm just willing to do whatever it takes to help the team win".
What a turn of events a week is, as all those smiles have now turned into sadness as he will no longer suit up this season.
