Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman's stats have cratered this year, just months after signing a major contract extension to remain in Boston.

Things have not gone according to plan for Jeremy Swayman and the Bruins this year, which began with tension.
Swayman held out of training camp and the pre-season schedule before finally being signed to an 8-year contract. But his stats have not matched up with his new deal.
With 25 losses so far this year, Swayman has suffered the most regulation losses of his NHL career; he's also ranked 31st out of 35 NHL goaltenders who have played in at least 30 games with a .892 SV%.
This is not the standard that was expected when his contract, which made him the 6th highest paid goalie in the NHL, was signed in October.
Swayman recently allowed 7 goals in Boston's 7-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings, leading coach Joe Sacco to call him out for his performance.
From top to bottom after that third goal, we just weren't good enough across the board. Top to bottom. I understand in a situation where we have young guys coming in and the opportunity for them to see what they can do, we have some players that are fairly new now - they've been here a couple weeks now - it's still not an excuse. We have to show more determination when we're in a game like that. That's a real good hockey team. You have to make sure you don't stop playing in any situation. It's a good lesson for a lot of us. You can't stop playing at all. Because teams like that will make you pay.

Swayman is first on Boston's goaltending depth charter after the trade of Linus Ullmark to the divisional foe Ottawa Senators during the summer.
But unfortunately for Boston fans, he's looked little like the goaltender from the last pair of years - and it's playing a massive in what will be a year likely outside of the playoffs for the Bruins.
