Sidney Crosby is celebrating his 38th birthday, and while the league looks to celebrate him, fans online disrespect one of the greatest players in NHL history.
On the seventh day of the eighth month of the year, NHL fans celebrated the birthday of No. 87 from the Pittsburgh Penguins, and this season, the long-time captain
celebrated his 38th birthday.
In celebration, Bleacher Report posted about Sidney Crosby on social media,
summing up the accomplishments of one of the NHL's greatest ever players as his career slowly comes towards its end.
Some of those accomplishments include three Stanley Cups, two Conn Smythe Awards, two MVP's, two Rocket Richard Awards as well as two Olympic Gold Medals, putting together an incredible resume that is matched by very few in the modern NHL.
Sidney Crosby gets disrespected by NHL fans on social media
Despite all of the success and the accomplishments, there will always be doubters and those that simply hate, and the post on social media was full of those people, whether genuine haters from rival teams or simple trolls.
Unsurprisingly, many brought up Crosby's past failures, his attitude on the ice in his early days and the recent loss to Team Canada, but there's no disputing that he's one of the greatest players to ever touch the ice in the NHL.
In 1,352 games, Crosby has posted 625 goals and 1,687 points for Pittsburgh, helping them to three Stanley Cups while becoming one of the most consistently dominant players in the league.
Despite all of this, he simply can't avoid hate on social media like many, many athletes in the world today, but as we know, he won't pay attention to any of this as he looks to get back on the ice in 2025/26 and potentially take the Penguins back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
